Social media for plumbers doesn't have to mean dancing videos or daily posting. Most of your customers only need you a few times a year, often in a hurry. What they want to see is a plumber who is local, reliable and easy to reach.
Here are 12 post ideas that do exactly that, plus a simple plan to keep your pages ticking over.
Where plumbers should post
Start with the channels your customers actually use when something goes wrong:
- Google Business Profile: the most important one. It shows up when people search "plumber near me".
- Facebook: still where neighbours ask each other for recommendations.
- Instagram: good for before and after photos and showing your team.
- Nextdoor or local groups: helpful, but follow each group's rules.
If you only have time for one, choose Google Business Profile.

Helpful tips
- Find your stopcock. Show where it usually is and why to find it before an emergency.
- Before you call a plumber. Three quick checks for a blocked sink or no hot water.
- The drain cleaner mistake. Why chemical drain cleaners can damage old pipes, and what to use instead.
- Winter pipe checklist. Lagging, dripping taps and what to do if a pipe freezes.
Show your work
- Before and after. A bathroom refit, a new boiler or a tidy repair. Real photos win.
- A tricky job. Explain a problem you solved in two or three sentences.
- Meet the van. Your van, your kit and the parts you carry so most jobs are fixed first time.
Build trust
- Your guarantee. What you promise on every job, in plain words.
- A customer review. Share a short review with permission, and say thank you.
- How you price a job. Callout fees, hourly rates or fixed prices, explained simply.
Ask for the call
- Emergency callouts. Your hours, your area and the number to ring.
- Book before winter. A seasonal reminder for boiler services and checks.
How to write posts that get calls
Keep it short and lead with the problem. "Water pooling under the boiler?" will stop a scroll faster than "Welcome to our page".
Then add one helpful line, one line of proof, and a clear next step: call, book or message. Put your phone number in the post, not just your profile.
Avoid promising what you can't guarantee, like "cheapest in town" or "fixed in 30 minutes". Honest, specific claims build more trust.
A simple monthly plan
Plan four weeks at a time. Two posts a week is enough:
- Week 1: a tip and a finished job
- Week 2: a seasonal reminder and a review
- Week 3: a tip and a team or van photo
- Week 4: your guarantee and an emergency callout post
Batch them in one sitting, schedule them, and you are done for the month.
Let the posts write themselves
If writing and designing posts every month sounds like another job, Porchlight can help. Paste your plumbing website and it learns your services, area, colors and logo, then designs a month of posts for Google, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and X. You approve the ones you like and they post on schedule.
